Birthday Party

We had a GREAT time at the fire house yesterday! Jax loved having his birthday party at it. The firemen and fire lady were so nice. The kids got a chance to spray the brush fire hose and to climb in all of the firetrucks and ambulance. It is taking forever to load pictures so I will post more tomorrow.

These pictures are from Jax actual birthday. We started the day with pancakes with sprinkles (found out he really is not a fan of sprinkles in his pancakes) and he got to open one of his gifts. We had a party at school with another boy that has the same birthday. Then we came home and had pizza (birthday boys request), cupcakes and ice cream. He got a scooter, a backpack fireman's hose and a iron man costume. It is so hard to believe my baby is 5. In the last month I have seen him grow up so much. He loves to play Lego's and does a great job with them. He still likes to dress up and act out fireman and superhero stuff - and loves to give his brother and the neighbor kids orders. He loves all kinds of books. He wants to know everything and as nerve racking as that can get - I really love this. I know so many kids that don't ask those questions and I love that he wants to know. He is a really good big brother (he told me yesterday that Riley was his best friend -I thought I might cry). He is so excited about Kindergarten (even though he told me today he was just going to go to 1st grade first). He is the tallest in his class. He still loves to play outside in the mud. Did I mention that he loves his superhero's. He started Awanas and loves it. He always wants to do his homework or whatever the teacher tells him to do for school - I hope he keeps that up until he is at least through college. He is a great eater. He is doing really well at soccer but he really wants to play football. I am so blessed by his smiling face and all the joy that he brings to me and his dad.

Here are some pictures from a few weeks ago when we took the boys fishing and to the park. They really did love fishing but only lasted about an hour and then they were ready to play. I was so scared I was going to have to jump in after Riley. He is not afraid and would get to the very edge so fast and dangle his fishing rod. Unfortunately no one caught a fish. But we had a great time!

Fun in the big R town

Our weekends have been so busy but we were able to go to the big R town the first part of May. The boys love to ride the mule and the red tractor. You can see they are fixing the tractor and helping daddy try and drive the mule. I wish the last photo was not so blurry. Riley is all posed and Jax is so serious about driving.

You can also tell by the pictures that it was so hot. The sun has been beating down on us for over a month but today God opened up the skies and gave us some much needed rain and cooler weather.

Happy Father's Day to all of the wonderful Father's that might read this blog! We have had a wonderful weekend. Saturday started off with a Tee Ball game followed by a pool party. Riley and I went to Home Depot to make a Father's day surprise then we went to McDonald's and to see Honey. After the boys naps we had some friends over for a Rib Off as the men called it - both were delicious but I must say the husbands were a little better :) This morning we had a great Sunday School lesson and then met my parents for lunch. The boys are napping and I am looking forward to getting some projects done when they wake up. The husband is enjoying the 100+ weather playing golf. He is the best dad ever but I do question the golf today - but then again it is his day!

I am so thankful that God blessed me with an incredible dad, fantastic grandfathers, and an unbelievable husband/father to our sons. I truly know how blessed I am! and keep reminding those two little boys everyday.

Slip and Slide

Saturday night we decided to get the slip and slide out for the first time this year. Riley has finally decided that he likes it. He also got into a pool the other day at a friends house and he liked it - now he did not want to leave the side but at least he felt comfortable. Okay, back to the slip and slide - they had a blast.

We have had a busy Easter weekend

I am still going to post the pictures from the boys school Easter egg hunts but that will be later.

We started our Easter break by going to R town to see my parents, my brother, his wife and Kale, Molly and Mira. Riley could not wait to go outside and ride the tractors and the mule. Jax loved playing baseball with Kale, Molly and Mira. He also loved chasing and playing hide and seek with Molly and Mira. Unfortunately I did not take any photos.

Saturday Jax had a friend come over and go with us to our church Easter egg hunt. They had a great time looking for eggs, and playing games. They were both so good and held hands when we were walking in the parking lot. You can see in the pictures that they were still holding hands at the egg hunt line. Good listeners.

Today we had a wonderful Sunday School message and Church message. Our preacher changed up the usual Easter Sunday message and preached on what if there was no resurrection. It was a great sermon and I am so thankful for Jesus and that he loved us so much that he died for our sins so we could have life eternally with Him! And by the pictures you can see that the Easter Bunny did make a stop at our house.

Here are some pictures from mid March when we were having wonderful weather. Riley loves riding his bike and last weekend he could ride it at least for about 30 seconds with both feet up. He should be on a big boy bike without training wheels next year. So now we have got to get Jax to like his bike so he will be on a big without training wheels.

Mardi Gras - better late than never

The first picture is of the Float Jax had to make for his class. Mommy and Daddy both helped with the project and it was the SFD Fire Chief float. The floats from his class were out of this world. It looked like the parents did all of the floats except for one. It's hard to think that it is already starting at age 4.

The next few pictures are of our little Mardi Gras King. Yes, Riley was the Mardi Gras king of his little school. The parents were not invited so I am waiting on pictures from his teacher. I made his hat and borrowed the cape from a friend. Jax even had to try it on.

Last Weekend

Last weekend we had two Birthday parties in the big R town. First we stopped and got a haircut - Jax and Riley. Yes, Riley let Ms. Crystal cut the back of his hair. He saw his big brother sit and let Ms. Crystal cut his hair so he figured why not. We then went to Bo's birthday party and had lots of fun playing in the gym, bouncy house and eating cake and ice cream. Then it was time to go to mam maw and pap paw's house. We ate lunch and then had Birthday cake for pap paw. Lots and lots of sugar!!! After lunch the boys ran outside to ride the mule, sit on the tractor, talk to the cows in the pasture (not mam maw and pap paw's cows), and just run around.

We have had a busy couple of months since our last post. The boys had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's. They both started the New Year with a cold and Riley has had a hard to getting ride of it. They had a great time visiting with all of their cousins and opening tons of gifts. The last few weekends we have had birthday parties, snow/ice (twice), and a trip to the big R town. I am going to split the pictures up into several post. I will start with us roasting marshmallows in our fireplace.

Santa pictures

Jax really wanted to see Santa so we told him we would take him Tuesday. Well, Monday morning he asked me if it was Tuesday so we took them to see Santa Tuesday night. Jax and Riley had both made their Santa letter so we gathered those up and headed out. When Jax saw Santa he practically ran ahead of the other kids. Luckily we only had 2 kids in front of us. As soon as the last child got off of Santa's lap Jax ran and jumped up on his lap. Jax had his letter in his hand but Santa told him to put it in the mailbox. Santa wanted to make sure that he did not lose the letter :) I thought he took a great picture. Now, Riley was next but as soon as we started walking towards Santa he lost it. So, for the 2nd year in a row I sat on Santa's lap holding a crying, kicking and screaming Riley.

Thanksgiving

I know this is late but I thought I would finally do some post. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed all of the time we got to spend with family. It was wonderful to just have a few days to spend with Jax and Riley and just enjoy ourselves. We are so Blessed!!

Christmas Card Pictures - How I love the fun pictures to look at year after year but this year is going to be a major challenge. Here are the problems 1. Jax needs a haircut (really needs a haircut) 2. Riley needs a haircut 3. Neither one will stay still long enough for a picture 4. If one smiles the other one is standing on his head 5. I have about 50 more of these reasons but the main reason is they are 2 and 4 and all boy. So we are all getting haircuts Saturday and I have some ideas of how we might be able to get at least a presentable picture (not a brotherly love picture) just a picture with both of them actually looking at the camera and kind of smiling. As you can see from the pictures I attached they will not sit down together. I might need to invest in photo shop.

4 Year Check UP

We finally got around to taken Jax in for his 4 year check up. I really had waited because if you are not familiar with checkups/wellness visits the 4 year is one of the worst. Here is all that he had to do for this visit.
Eye test - had to read the 2nd to last line and it was a mixture of shapes, symbols and letters (I could not read all of them)

finger prick - Jax hates this

pee pee in a cup - Let's just say this was not fun for either one of us.

weight - 41.5 lbs.

Height - 43 in. (he is so tall)

and finally he had to get 3 shots. Now he has gotten 3 shots at once but now that he is older it is worst. He did start telling all of the nurses when we got to the office that he didn't need a shot.

We had a sweet little family birthday party for Riley on Saturday. I think he had a lot of fun seeing all of the Dig Dig's and blowing out his birthday candles. He likes to blow them out right after you light them. He then tried to dig into the cake with his spoon! Jax wanted to help Riley with everything (blowing out his candles, opening is gifts, etc.)

Two years ago today God blessed us with our precious Riley man.

Riley you are such a sweet, happy, silly little guy. You make us life so much especially when you and your brother start acting silly with each other. We thought your brother was a picky eater but you win that award. Your number one love is a Dig Dig. Everything is either a Dig Dig or a lawn mower. We have to sing the dig dig song and the lawn mower song every night. In the last 2 weeks your vocabulary has grown so much, you are saying 2-3 words at a time. You can make some of the funniest faces. You now want your daddy with you at all times. You are learning so much from your brother, monkey see...monkey do.

I will try and post pictures again tomorrow. I have been waiting for over an hour to get these posted and they just want go.

Trick or Treat

Jax had so much fun Trick or Treating this year. He wanted to be a fireman so I made him a costume because I just could not stand the plastic ones. I wanted Riley to be a dalmatian but never could find a costume in his size. I tried to make him one but couldn't find a white sweatsuit in his size either. We decided Riley could use an old costume that we had. Good thing we didn't buy anything because after the husband was finally able to get the turtle costume on him he decided to shed his shell in the driveway before we left. Not having a costume did not stop him from going up and saying his version of trick or treat. Jax loved hanging out with the girls (all of the new neighbors have girls that are four). Zoo and Pumpkin Patch

We have had a very busy day and have another busy day planned for tomorrow but we are having lots of fun! This morning we went to the Zoo and then to a pumpkin patch. The boys had lots of fun but as you can tell by all of the pictures - they would not sit still or smile for a good Fall picture. Oh, well I still love the memories of the ones that I did get :)

FALL

It is starting to look like fall!! We went for a walk tonight and it was so nice. I also noticed that alot of our neighbors have their fall stuff out - I need to get on the ball and get ours done.

I went to school open house last Thursday night for Jax. Riley will be having his later. I found out that Jax is doing great and that the girls think he is handsome and the King - I probably should be worried about the King part. I am not sure where it came from but I hope Jax did not give himself that title. I wish I wrote down some of his sayings- the kid is funny!

Riley did not want to take the following pictures unless he had is baby (pacifier and blanket). He knows when it is bedtime. I can't wait to break the pacifier habit!

Birthday Party Pictures

These are really late but I wanted to get them posted. Jax finally had his Birthday Party on the 25th. We waited because a girl in his class has a birthday the day before his and then he shares a birthday with another boy in his class. So, I thought we could wait to have our party and maybe it would be a little cooler - and it was! I think everyone had a great time making a superhero cape. It is so hard to believe my little baby is 4. I know I say that alot but it really hit me this year because all of the Kindergarten open houses are going on right now. He would have to test into a Magnet and the test is in February. The Husband and I decided to wait another year before he starts Kindergarten. The cut off is a September birthday so he would slip by but I don't want him being the youngest in his class. So, my baby still has one more year before he will start school.

Riley is doing great! He really likes school now. I am so thankful because I was going to have to make a playroom at the store so he could stay with me all day. Not sure what my business partner would have thought :)

It is hard to believe Jax man is 4. Where does the time go. He had a great day today. The husband and I brought cupcakes to his class this afternoon. He shares a birthday with another little boy in his class so his mom brought drinks, and chips. We aren't having his friend birthday party until the 25th so hopefully it will be a little cooler.

Here is what Jax is up to at 4:

He can right his name.
He can count to at least 50

He can recognize letters and words.
He can put big floor puzzles together with no problems
He loves to build stuff

He is constantly thinking and putting stuff together

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for both boys. The husband and I both went so he could meet both teachers. We walked in and went to Riley's class first. Jax was so excited to take his little brother (baby as he calls him) to his class. Riley was not so excited. He did not know what was happening. His teacher and both helpers are very sweet and already knew Riley because of Jax. Next we walked Jax to his new class and he ran in gave his teacher a hug and then us a hug. He loves school and that makes me sooooo happy! I picked Riley up right after lunch and he was chasing his teacher crying. She was trying to get some of the other kids asleep and he was so confused (he was not the only child like that). When I walked up he ran to me and was just shaking. His teacher said he played most of the time but got upset a little before lunch. I know he is going to get the hang of it but it is hard to see him upset. I leave you with pictures from this morning. I am not sure why we can't all just stand side beside and take a good picture for mommy :) I know Riley has a bottle in the first picture but that is a battle we can deal with.

These last few weeks have been so busy that I have not had time to post. So I have a ton of pictures.

The boys are growing so fast. It is amazing how much Jax has matured. This week I have loved to watch them play together. Oh, how they love each other and fight like brothers. I just watch and smile. Jax has been such a big helper with Riley - he loves to send him to time out and to tell him why he is in trouble :)

Riley is now 21 months and:

has gotten his back teeth but is still missing some.

tells us when he needs to go to the bathroom - but does not understand how to go on the potty.

loves to brush his teeth and get his hair fixed in the morning.

still likes to snuggle.

loves to play chase.

vocabulary is still growing strong.

Jax is now 47 months and:

is such a little man.

has grown so tall.

likes to tell you he has long legs :)

I took Jax to a friends birthday today and he entertained everyone by singing and dancing. Yes, my sweet little boy was trying to karaoke and he was busting some moves. I could not stop laughing. I don't think he is shy.

It is hard to believe July is almost over with. We have been so busy I have not given an update on what the boys are up to.
Riley: Is saying more words but loves to call himself baby.

Understands everything we are saying.
Wants whatever his brother has.
Is a pretty good listener. If we say no he usually will stop.
Loves his books.
LOVES DIG DIGS!
Still takes a 3 hour nap (most days)
Hates the doctors office (just like his brother) points and tells us to go out the door.
Wants to use the big boy toilet like his brother.

Hope everyone had a great 4th! We had a wonderful long weekend. We grilled, popped firecrackers, played in the pool, and slipped on the slip and slide. The husband and Jax popped firecrackers while Riley and I stayed inside. Riley is so scared of firecrackers. I think it happened when the husband, Jax and Riley went to the firecracker tent and they had the blow up man (you know the one that just wiggles). I think that scared him and he relates that to firecrackers.

If you don't know I am starting a business with a friend. It is a breast prosthesis, wig, compression garment, and hard to fit bra boutique. We are really excited and hope to be up and running sometime in August.

Riley is also trying to potty train (I am not trying to train him right now). I guess he watches his brother and wants to be just like him. About 3 weeks ago he ran up to me and pulled me into the bathroom and went to the toilet and lifted his shirt (I could not stop laughing). I took his diaper off and he acted like he was using the bathroom. I also tried to sit him on the toilet but he did not want to have anything to do with that. He wants to stand. Well about a week after that I found him and Jax in their bathroom Jax had moved the stool by the toilet and pulled Riley's pants down to his feet and took his diaper off. Jax was standing by the toilet showing him how to pee pee. It is really funny!

I have a ton of pictures that I need to put on here but have not had the time. Will try and do in the next couple of days.

I went to our Church website today looking for something and saw the link to pictures and I found some of Jax, Riley and the husband from the Easter egg hunt. It was so hard keeping them still until the Easter egg hunt so I chased Riley all over the church will Jax played with the big kids. One time Riley ran away from me and as I caught up with him he was sitting by the 2 bunnies waiting for his picture - now if I had tried to get him to take a picture he would not have even gone in the same room with the bunnies. I also love the picture of Riley poking his daddies eyes - we were watching the children's choir and Riley would not be still so the husband put him on his shoulders.

My Little Artist

A few weeks ago I decided to paint our half bathroom. I had wanted to do it for several years but just have not had the time so I finally did it. It looks so much better! My wall hangings just did not go with the new look so I looked and looked for something but could not find anything. I finally thought about framing some of the boys artwork but could not think of anything until. I was in Michaels getting something and saw they had art canvas on sale so I grabbed the 2 pack. I still was not sure what I was going to do but I put different colors of paint in plastic cups put my old t-shirts on the boys and let them paint. I did not do any of the painting so it is all them. I love how they are both different and I LOVE how they look!

Morning Time

We are having a great week and enjoyed some muffins this morning as you can see by the pictures. Riley can be a very picky eater in the morning but he loved the muffins this morning so I thought it was a great opportunity to take some pictures. Jax was in the middle of getting dressed for school as you can tell by the no shirt look. And yes we do feed him. We have a very busy weekend ahead of us but it should be lots of fun with our last T-Ball game, birthday parties, riding tractors, swimming and playing with cousins.

Finally a New Post

I promise I am going to get better at posting - I have so much I need to post about so we can remember everything (this post is a memory book for the boys and to keep up with family that live far off).

Riley had his 18 month checkup right before he turned 19months and he is doing great. He weighed 24.4lbs and was 33.4 inches tall. The doctor said he was in the 95% for height (another tall child!). I know I have said it before but he amazes me at how much he understands. He loves his brother and hates for his brother to get in trouble (he gets a really sad face). He also has learned not to take anything from his brother and tries to retaliate. He is still waiting for his eye teeth to come in and they are driving him crazy. He loves to squeal and it is so loud. But more than anything he loves to smile!

Jax is in love with all superhero's these days, he talks about them none stop. I have to tell him that superhero's do not use guns because sometimes in his imagination they do. He loves to make people laugh and does a really good job of it.

Busy Summer

We are having a Great summer. Lots of T-Ball, Birthday parties, family visits and other great adventures. My sister-in-law and Cousin M are down for a long visit so the boys have been having fun playing with Cousin M. Jax is currently trying to tell us he has a fever - his temperature is 98.1 So, I am going to go and see what is really wrong with him.

We have had a great weekend so far. I took the boys over to the R town to get haircuts. Riley is just like his brother about those haircuts. Ms. Crystal was only able to get the back of his hair. But it looks so much better. Jax did so well - he just let her cut it with no arguments. After we finished with the haircuts we went to mam maw and pap paw house to ride the tractors and the mule. Jax and Riley got to pick a plum off of the neighbors tree - Jax really liked his. Today Jax had a T-Ball game and then we got the slip and slide out. Lost of outside fun!

Hello

Well, it has been a while but we have been so busy. I don't know what it is about the Spring but it is busy. We have had T-Ball practice, T-Ball Games, enjoying the weather (up until it turned 93 degrees), doing some home improvements, some other fun stuff you will be hearing about soon (not another baby), events for work, and many other things. It is so much fun to watch Jax and Riley growing up (way to fast). I promise to post new pictures tonight.

18 MONTHS and 44 MONTHS (3 YEARS 8 MONTHS)

It is hard to believe that Riley was 18 Months old on the 11th and Jax is so close to being 4. Here are a few things they are doing these days.

Riley -
Has a strong personality - It is his way or no way
He loves to say mama(over and over and over) and I love to hear it.
He loves fruits and has to feed himself
Still loves his bottle
Sleeps really well
LOVES being outside
Has a new love for dig digs (they are digging out a new street right behind our house and Riley loves to stand in the tower of their swing set and watch all day)
He trys to sing "This is the day the Lord hath made" - it really is cute (took me awhile to figure out that was what he was saying but when I started singing he jumped right in)
He loves to do everything is brother does
He loves when his daddy throws him in the air and catches him
He gets so excited when we go up stairs
He makes the loudest squall when he is mad
He is Smiley Riley
Loves to play in the dirt
Loves to dance

Jax -
In the last few months you can tell Jax has really grown up
He can sit down and watch tv (this is very recent)
He has learned so much at school
This morning he was counting different stuff in Spanish
He can match stuff by counting how many and then putting the correct number on the items
He has learned what foods are good for you and which ones are bad
He is for sure a leader - loves to tell you what to do and how :)
He is a great storyteller - He had convinced a bunch of older kids at the ballpark that there was a cave and lions in the woods behind the fence.
He loves his teachers and all of his Children (the other kids in his class)
He is still working on listening to his mommy and daddy (I guess this is something we all struggle with our whole life)
He loves being outside
He really loves Superheros now
He is a child of ritual - does not like change
He has to have his bear, blankie, bunny, flashlights, and his sippy cup of water every night in his bed
He loves to do stuff for himself - like get dress, fix his hair, poor his own juice, get his own food
He loves his brother but also loves to fight with his brother
Loves to play in the dirt

T-Ball

Jax started T-Ball 3 weeks ago and got to play at a minor league baseball field yesterday. It is so cute to watch 3 and 4 year olds playing t-ball. When Jax is paying attention he hits the ball really well. They let each team member bat twice so by the second time at bat most of the kids are picking flowers, rolling around on the ground, etc.

since we last posted anything. We have been extremely busy, as always and I'm sure as everyone else has as well. The wife has her big event for work next Monday night, so once that is done she can breathe a little easier, until one other smaller "extra" event a couple of weeks later is over. After those are done, then maybe she can slow down some. My work has been busy as well. We finally got over a larger hurdle, and I will tell more later when I can. Needless to say, we are busy, and busy is good.

Jaxman is still getting up several times after we put him down at night. He just came in here for the second time and told me that God told him that I should tell him a story.....where he gets this, I do not know. Only time will tell what stories the little smiley one, Riley, will come up with. I think his attention to detail is sharper than his brother's, so no telling what tricks he has picked up that we have not seen yet. Another week is almost over, but I am sure we will be busy all weekend getting things ready for the event on Monday. A little prayer that all goes well....We will try not spread out the posts as far apart next time....

No more fever

Well, the fever has left but the runny noses, congestion and cough are here. We have officially all had the allergy junk. Riley is the last victim. This has been a super busy week and I am so excited about the weekend - hopefully we can get somethings done around the house. A few weeks ago we had some pictures of the boys taken. Here are a few.

That was the temperature reading last night with Jax. Riley's fever started about an hour and a half before Jax. Right before bath time we noticed Riley was just laying his head down and his eyes were glazed over. The Husband was headed to take Jax to bed when Riley woke up on me and started throwing up. So another bath and then we got Jax in Bed - that is when his fever started (102). Riley's fever stayed really high for about three hours and the same for Jax. The Husband and I stayed up rocking Riley and sleeping on Jax's floor for most of the night. Riley finally went to sleep and slept all night. Jax kept waking up so The Husband slept on the floor in his room half the night and I slept the other half. Now, Jax is crying because he thinks we should do that every night. He just came in our room saying he has a fever. The battles we have with this boy. Oh, great he woke Riley up. Please pray we all get some sleep tonight.

Riley man has a mouth full of teeth coming in and they are really bothering him. He has his 4 top teeth and 3 bottom teeth but more of his bottom teeth are coming in. Everything goes in his mouth and he did not sleep well at all last night. Please pray that he gets more sleep tonight (and us). Jax is really growing up. Everyday I notice how mature he is getting (for a 3 year old). It is fun to watch him play with his brother now - they play really well most of the time :)

This has been a busy long weekend. We were going to the zoo on Friday but the weather said we were going to be getting really bad weather so we went to see my parents instead. The day actually turned out to be beautiful. My brother and his family were also at my parents so we had a fun day playing outside in the pollen. The pollen has been horrible the last few days. On Saturday we got up and ran a few errands before going to the Easter egg hunt at our church. The boys had fun playing and hunting for eggs. Jax woke up from his nap with a head ache and fever so he laid around the rest of the day. He still had a little fever and a runny nose this morning so we did not take him to church to expose him to everyone. We had a fabulous lunch at the husbands parents house and now the boys are taking naps. Below are some pictures from this weekend. Easter Egg Hunt

Jax had his class Easter Egg hunt today. It was funny seeing a bunch of three year old grabbing eggs but then getting distracted opening the eggs. One little boy told me before we went out side that he was "houngry" for some eggs and then said he was going to grab some eggs for his daddy - now you have to imagine a little boy that looks like Dennis the Menace saying this. From what I hear that little boy never stops talking :) and he did grab a whole bucket full of eggs. He was nice enough to give half of them to the kids that did not get many. Jax had no problem grabbing around 10 eggs. We had a great time watching them.

My Head Hurts

That is reason number 6 tonight for Jaxman getting out of his bed and coming into our room. We are not sure what he is scared of but for the last 2 weeks he comes into our room at least 5 times with something wrong. Each time he has a new problem - my hand hurts, you didn't put chap stick on me, my head hurts, my pillow hurts me, I am missing feathers, my finger hurts, and many more. We can hear him coming because he has his bear in his arms and bear has a rattle in his head. It is now 9:00 so this has been going on since 7:45. Hopefully he will go to sleep this time.

Other news is Jax is going to play t-ball this year with some of his classmates (I might have mentioned this in an earlier post). So, the husband was determined to find his old t-ball mitt. He pulled every box out of old toys that he had. While he was looking for that I found some of his old clothes and thought it would be fun to try them on Jax. I know one day Jax will not appreciate this picture but I think it is really cute and funny. This was his daddy's outfit. I think the husband may have been 2-4 months younger when he wore it. My mother in law brought the pictures of him in the outfit over and you can see that Jaxman has his mothers legs :) I am really not sure if that is a good thing. You also must keep in mind that this was a 1979-1980 outfit. Jax could not understand why it did not fully cover is bottom.

Tonight Riley was entertaining everyone in Sams. He was making fishy faces and then he was preaching to everyone in his on language. When we got home he decided that he was going to pet one of the stuffed animals (a dog) and then he jumped on the dogs back and started making barking noises. He is a mess.

I have been putting off Riley's haircut until tonight. Jax hated haircuts but I am finding out Riley really does not mind. So he is now mullet free.

Snow

How crazy is it that it snowed in Louisiana on March 21st? Unfortunately, it did not stick so we were stuck inside all day yesterday. We had Easter pictures scheduled but that did not happen. The boys would have looked funny in hats and jackets for Easter pictures. Hopefully we will get to do those one day this week.

We had fun on Saturday at My parents house. My mom is a spring baby so we celebrated with them and my brothers family. The boys have so much fun with their older cousins. Jax really makes Molly and Mira entertain him the whole time they are together. It is hard to believe that Kale will be going to High School next year, Molly just made Junior High Cheerleader, and Mira does not have much longer in elementary school.

Riley has been trying to say more words lately. Tonight after we ate we went outside and a neighbors dog was in our yard and Riley said Dog (it was very clear). But right after that he started his babbling (he babbles really fast).

Isn't St. Patrick's Day so much fun? My seventh and eighth grade teacher (Mr. Laney) LOVED St. Patrick's Day. Our class helped him plan his yearly party all year long. We made shamrocks that we hung as a boarder around the whole room (we had a really large classroom) and all kinds of other St. Patrick's Day decorations. On St. Patrick's Day he had an all day party where some many alumni came back to see him and enjoy is green punch. Growing up in the school you always heard that the punch was spiked. Well, I am sure it was not but it sure was good. Mr. Laney passed a way a few months ago so today I would like to salute the best seventh and eighth grade teacher anyone could have, his love for his students, the lessons that he taught us (out of books and about life), and his green punch :) I can only pray that my children have a teacher that loves them and encourages them as much as Mr. Laney did. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Jax had a St. Patrick's Day party today at school. The teachers went and got Happy Meals for the class and then while the kids were taking a nap a leprechaun came in and gave everyone a kiss. Jax received his kiss on his nose.

The weather has been great so every night we have been outside. I think Riley loves being outdoors more than his brother. Who knew that was possible? Riley loves to play with all of his brothers toys. Jax could careless until he sees him and then he wants it. We have some fun times ahead of us :) The funny part is Riley knows exactly what he is doing.

Jaxman

Jaxman is still battling the upset stomach. We are really praying that it is finally gone. He came into our room around 2 am this morning because he had an accident. It took him another hour+ to go back to sleep. This was so hard on all of us because of Daylight savings. Now that I have children I really can't stand Daylight savings. It will probably take 2 more weeks for everyone to get use to it. The one advantage is it staying daylight longer so we can play outside. After dinner we went and hit golf balls, rode the four-wheeler and then took a walk. The weather has been so nice! Hopefully Jax will get to go to school tomorrow - He really missed it today. Haircut

Jax finally got a haircut today!!!! He really was starting to look like the wolf boy (Ha! Ha!). His hair grows so fast that he really needs a haircut every 3 weeks. Well, Ms. Crystal has been on maternity leave for a few weeks so I have been cutting his hair. The last time daddy got involved and we really messed it up. So, Ms. Crystal worked her magic and he looks so good. After she finished his hair he helped her cut my hair. His daddy would be so proud :)

Jax is getting a haircut! Ms. C is back and we are headed to the big R town tomorrow to get our haircut. Jax will not let anyone by Ms. C cut his hair so the last 8+ weeks have been a struggle. I tried to cut it twice but it just does not look good. I am so happy she will be able to get it cut. I need this cut to last threw school parties, upcoming pictures, Easter and the weekend after Easter. Both of the boys were doing much better today until Jax started having the big D. Almost Friday

Jax stayed home from school today. He was feeling great - I guess he just had a mild case of the stomach bug. Riley was much better today but he still will not eat very much. When I got home we went outside and rode the 4-wheeler. Riley and I rode together (that was a sight). Then I let Riley ride by himself as I walked (he was barely moving) right beside him. He LOVES IT! When we got in Jax wanted to make a project so I told him after we eat. Well, I decided to get the Easter eggs out and we could start hiding them. Jax and Riley have several Easter Egg hunts coming up so I need them to be ready to grab some eggs :)
Jax kept asking why we had to find them. He just wanted to hide them. We had lots of fun.

Sick Boys

We got the call from school today that Jax was sick. His teacher said it was just all of the sudden. I thought Riley might have a bug this morning when I changed his diaper. Well, he has had 2 more bad diapers since then. I am thinking it is a mild case of the stomach bug. Hopefully they will both feel better after a good nights rest. Please say a prayer that they both sleep well tonight.

Birdhouse

Jax wanted to build a birdhouse so we went and got some wood on Saturday. We had a bunch of errands so it probably was not smart getting the wood first. It stunk really bad and we probably will all have cancer from the chemicals (treated wood). So, then we get the great idea to go to Michaels and buy a birdhouse kit. Well Michaels had unfinished birdhouses. Jax picked out the one he wanted and everyone was happy. Saturday after nap time we painted the birdhouse and everything was great. Well, around 6:30pm everything fell apart. Jax wanted to build a birdhouse right then. So, the husband told him after his nap on Sunday they would build a birdhouse. Now, we have 2 birdhouses. Honey and Pop Pop came over Sunday night and helped Jax paint birdhouse #2 and swing Riley man.

Our little Dipper!

Riley loves to dip all of his food into something. It all started in December when he wanted a carrot - he saw that his daddy was dipping his carrot in ranch so he wanted some also. He LOVED it! So we have to dip everything. While Riley was eating dip this weekend Jax was sitting at the table with his helmet on (he just wanted to wear it and it was not worth the battle). His brother on the other hand will only dip his chicken nuggets and french fries in Ketchup. They are very different. Hope you all have a great week!

Time Out

Jax got sent to time out Monday at school - so we took his Batman things away. We told him that he needed to start listening to his teachers but apparently he was not listening to us. We think he went to time out Tuesday and Wednesday. His teacher said he did not go Tuesday unless it was after she left and Wednesday she did not think he went. Anyway, we are really working on listening. Riley is really trying to say more words now. He understands everything (maybe more then he should at his age) but now you can kind of tell what he is saying. Glad tomorrow is Friday and last I looked we are suppose to have a nice weekend. Monday

You have to have a start to the week but why are Monday's such Monday's. Riley was awake for 3 hours last night - please pray that he sleeps well tonight. It has been rainy, cold and nasty all day. I got to work today and they had moved furniture out of my office (we moved office buildings last week) and moved dirty (filthy) furniture in. I spent all morning cleaning roach droppings out of my desk. I was really mad about that and tired. Then I read about a little girl that is 2 and only has a few days to live. It really made me realize that we have to take each moment and live it to the fullest (even cleaning dirty desk). It also made me look back on the 2 hours that I rocked Riley and the hour that he kicked me while laying beside me and the husband (I finally brought him to our bed so at least I could lay down). Haircut

Not much going on. We have all been fighting the sinus stuff I think. The husband and I gave Jax a haircut tonight and it now looks like the kid has a Kentucky waterfall. The girl that usually cuts it just had a baby and he will not go to anyone else. Hopefully it will grow out soon. Here are some pictures before the haircut.

Computer problems again

Hopefully all of our computer problems are solved now. Our laptop went to a black screen so the husband had to fix that which took awhile to get the parts. Well, we have had snow since the last time I wrote. Jax loved it but Riley was not so sure about it. Today Riley went for his 15 month check-up. The doctor discovered that he had white spots on his throat. That could be why he did not sleep well last night. She thinks it is just a virus but she did a strep throat culture just in case. Here are some of his stats: 24.2lbs and 32.25 inches long so he is in the 50% for everything. Riley is so happy 90% of the day, he loves to laugh and dance. He can hear a beat from a mile away and just starts bouncing and spinning. His vocabulary is growing, he will point to most of his body parts (or the person asking body parts) when you say the body part, he is really good at feeding himself, he loves his big brother, he loves to be outside, he will eat just about anything, his favorite place in the house is the pantry and the computer desk, he loves to type on the keyboard and use the mouse, and he loves to smile. Oh, what would we do with out our two cuties. I will post pictures tomorrow. Have a great Friday.

Way to Go Saints!

What a great weekend. We made our usual grocery store stops on Saturday and the husband cooked a fabulous pork loin. Sunday was a gorgeous day - we have not been getting to many of those lately. The husband got the slide/basketball/plastic gym out of the attic and set it up in between our living and kitchen. Riley loves it! Jax is a little big for it but that did not stop him from doing a few tricks. The problem is Riley imitates everything that Jax does. We went to a Sunday School Superbowl party to watch the Saints win!! You can't live in LA and not love the Saints. Today my shutterfly photo albums came in and I am so happy with them. I did one for each of the boys about their first year. I am sharing some of my favorite pictures from the albums.

The big S town decided to throw a big Superbowl party this afternoon downtown at the tax payers expense. They had free food, drinks and entertainment. We decided to skip those festivities and just watch it on the news. We really do have some strange birds in this city.

Warm blooded

We were all playing and Jax says I'm warm blooded. The husband and I looked at each other and said yes you are. Apparently they are learning about warm blooded animals at school. After his bath he was telling us that a beaver was warm blooded. I am just very impressed that they are teaching this to 3 year old. I used one of those height calculators to see how tall Jax was going to be when he is 18 and it said he would be around 6'2. Not much else going on here just excited that tomorrow is Friday!

Jaxman Trip

We had a great time in the big A town last weekend. We wanted Jax to see where he was born and experience some of the things we loved about the area. While we were there we got to see a lot of great friends and eat lots of great food. Jax had a great time and did not want to leave. I have not had time to download the pictures from my camera but this one is from the husbands phone. I also have not updated you all on my grocery challenge. I have done really well and did come in at right about 75 every week (now I did have to make a Sams run one week so that did not help). I am going to continue the challenge in Feb. I got a job this month so that makes it a little harder to strategize (not sure about that word but I think you get what I am saying) my shopping but I have faith that it can be done. I am also working on the meal planning. It is going really well. We have had a couple of changes but for the most part it is working. If you have some great meals you would like to share please post them as a comment. I would love to try new things that have worked for you -I am also sure the one other person that reads this blog would like it also :)

We got hit with a pretty good virus on our laptop, home of the blog, but it made it through surgery and is now in ICU under observation before we can get back online with it. It should be back up and blogging in a couple of days. We are all doing well otherwise.

The Challenge

With a new year I decided to take on some challenges. I love goals and really miss that part of a daily outside of the home job. The first challenge is to plan out my meals for an entire month and do my grocery shopping around the meals. I did this Sunday night and I already love not having to think about what to cook tonight (okay the husband does not have to cook anymore but he has not clued in on doing the dishes). The second challenge is to only spend $75 a week on groceries. I have to say I am really excited (okay I am a geek). And my final challenge is to find more challenges for me. I am going to give weekly updates on how I am doing on the $75 and I will also post our weekly meals. Jax started full time at school and has really done well. Riley and I really have missed him during the day.

Story Time!

"I'm outta here people."

..actually begins for me tomorrow, since it will be my first day at work for 2010. The pictures tell a little about how New Years Night went...it rained New Year's Eve, so we waited until the next night to do the fireworks. Riley was a little scared of some of the loud ones, and he might have preferred to watch them from inside. He bolted for the door a couple of times. "I'm outta here people." The JaxMan starts staying a full day at "new school" this week. It should be interesting. Riley is talking in his own language...it is quite humorous, because he will talk back to his brother, and JaxMan tries to interpret.

So many changes in 2009! I mean Michael Jackson passed away - okay on to more serious stuff. Our first born turned 3 and turned into a big boy. My baby turned 1 and thinks he is 3 like his brother. Cathing Up From a Merry Christmas

Sorry it has been a few days but we were busy spending time with family. We had a wonderful Christmas! It was great to see everyone but missed the ones that were unable to make it down for the Holidays. Jax really got into Santa Clause this year- the husband will have to write more on that tomorrow night. I have to give some updates on the boys. Jax does not want to take his nap or go to sleep at night. He is so smart and can charm you so well that you hate to get upset, but he does have to go to sleep. Riley learned how to do "Itsy Bitsy Spider". It really did shock me that he could do the hand motions (we did not practice and I don't sing it very often). He also now makes a car or truck sound as he pushes the car or truck (really cute). He also loves to climb. Today he has dragged a little stool that we have all over the house. Jax got a computer keyboard (it hooks up to the TV) for Christmas and loves to use it (and he is getting good at it). I leave you with pictures from the past week.

to Christmas Day and JaxMan can't wait. Ask him why we celebrate Christmas, and he will tell you, "It is Jesus's birthday!". He still wants a bike, jackhammer, tractor with a backhoe, and a backpack blower, of which I am not sure Santa will be able to bring all of that. We will see. Riley is a climber. The other day, he had pushed his little chair over to the dining chairs, and when I caught him, he was 3/4 the way on the dining chair, eyeing the top of the dining table. We have to watch him closely. Off to a another week of work, however it will be short with Christmas fast approaching.

since we've posted something. Christmas is getting closer and the JaxMan is getting excited. HoHo came to his school today, and he got candy and a puzzle. He is trying to be good, but sometimes it is hard. Riley is growing up. He is climbing on everything and starting to talk. He and JaxMan are starting to play more together. It is funny, JaxMan started yelling at him for some reason the other day, and Riley stood there, pointing at him and yelling back. He wasn't going to let JaxMan push him around. I guess we are getting a taste of what we will get to experience more of in the future. We went down to the "City of Lights" last weekend and met up with some friends to see the lights and fireworks. It was so foggy, that we could not see 90% of the fireworks, but we had fun.

Gross weather

The weather this weekend was just nasty. Wet, gray and cold. We went and saw the festival of lights but really could not see all of the fireworks because of the severe fog. We lucked out and got a great seat at a restaurant on front street - so we got to stay dry and warm. Looking forward to a great week.

Another Sick Day

Well, Jax stayed home today sick. He did not have fever but a runny nose and he felt bad. I caught him laying down several times (this child is never still). Riley is growing up so fast - his vocabulary has grown leaps and bounds in the past few weeks. It amazes me how much he understands. I love watching them absorb and process everything. He also is climbing on everything. I remember Jax being a climber but not this bad. We have a fun weekend planned - hopefully the weather will turn out to be nice.

May never fly on AA again....delays, delays, delays...we were delayed going up, boarded, left the gate, returned to the gate for a maintenance issue, had to change planes...got to NYC over 2 hours past schedule....coming back, boarded the plane early, sat at the gate on the plane for an hour plus while they fixed another maintenance issue...apparently there are different inspections for day flying vs night flying. They discovered that one of the switches wouldn't work, so there was a chance the pilot's panel lights would go out....they fixed that, and then the captain came back on the loud speaker and told us he had filled out the paperwork wrong...another 15 minutes gone.....finally got to Dallas, 10 minutes after my other flight, the last one home for the day from DFW, was suppose to leave....it was delayed, imagine that, so I was able to make it. It is good to be home for a while......

Sick Day

Riley did not sleep at all last night. His fever was 102 and would only go down to 100. I decided to take him to the doctor this afternoon and he said that it was a viral infection and he should be better by Wednesday. Hopefully he will get some good sleep tonight. We also want to say Happy 2nd Birthday Millie!!!

The Bulldogs ended the season today with a great win. I also have to say Roll Tide - yes we have no ties to Alabama but the husband has always been a fan (not one of those on or off fans but just someone that has always respected the way the team plays and its traditions). I did fell a little sorry for Tebow. You have to respect a guy that shares his faith even during a football game. I heard Riley cough like twice yesterday and then he did not sleep well last night. By lunch today he had 102 fever and you could tell he was sick. After his nap he was just really clingy and still had a little fever so I took him to urgent care. I don't think the Dr. really had a clue but he gave us some meds and said it was probably an upper resp. infection. Hopefully he will get a good nights sleep and feel much better tomorrow. I have some pictures from the snow that I will try and post soon. Have a great one!

a little. There were a few flakes, but hey it snowed. The wife took the boys out to see it. Built the first fire in our fireplace tonight. At least that is what they are saying. It is in the low 30s and the state police have put out hazardous driving warnings....doesn't take much ice or snow here to shut everything down. We went to Bass Pro Shop tonight to see Santa. JaxMan was scared and didn't want anything to do with the old man in the white beard or his ole lady. Riley was scared to death, and started crying once he saw them. We think that they were really husband and wife, and could have passed for the real toymaker from the great north. JaxMan finally accepted the fact that it really was Santa and got a really good picture with him. Riley on the other hand finally got a picture with the bearded one...except the wife had to hold him as they leaned/sat against Santa. It was cold on the run this morning, about 27 degrees. It will be cold in the morning as well, and I am going to wear gloves this time. My hands just about froze off.

is almost over. The Dawgs have their last game this weekend, a home game, so maybe we can end with a Win. The SEC championship is also Saturday, and hoping that our #2 team to cheer for can pull out a Win. Just ask JaxMan who the best receiver in college football is. You can also ask him who plays for....yep he can answer that one too. Might get snow on Friday....well at least that's what they say. Started running again, this time maybe I can stick with it longer than a couple of weeks. The getting up early hasn't been as bad as I thought. We've been trying to get some good pics of the boys in their Christmas duds, but it has been a challenge.....I think we got a few though.

this week. The highs will be in the 50s and the lows getting into the 30s. Actually feels like Christmas is getting closer. I can remember many a holiday down here when we were in shorts. Got to go back up to the Big City soon and not looking forward to the cold up there. All of the hustle and bustle, Radio City all lit up, the big tree, and the ice skating there kind of gets one in the Christmas spirit. Want to say Happy Anniversary to the sister and brother-in-law for tomorrow. Hope y'all have a great day.

Riley has been climbing on everything today. We have been moving furniture so he can't climb up and fall. I try to keep them in the room that I am in but that is not always possible. He is also so very fast. Jax got to put up his little Christmas tree today. He now wants to decorate it with everything.

We had a great day in the big R town today. I think Jax wore his cousins out. He had them running from him, chasing him, driving him on the tractor, jumping on the bed (yes he was not suppose to be doing that), and he never stopped telling them what to do. He is going through a phase where he tells you what to do and how to do it (I really hope it is just a phase). It was really great to see all of the fam and let Jax and Riley play with everyone.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving today. We went over to the husbands mom and dads house and had a great time eating and visiting with our extended family. The food was fantastic! When we got home we started putting our Christmas lights outside. Jax was fixing everything and Riley was trying to ride the big wheel. Looking forward to a long weekend and visiting with my family later on.

Today Jax had his Thanksgiving party at school. The husband and I went to see our little Indian. They all had the cutest shirts that they had decorated on. They had ham, turkey, cheese, apple slices, corn, apple juice and grapes. Then they ran around and tackled each other for about 10 minutes. It was really cute. The husband has been smoking a turkey and it smells great. I just finished making a cheesecake pecan pie. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I am so thankful for all that God has blessed us with.

is over and back to the grind. Needless to say that was one of the most bizarre endings to a football game and kind of humorous. Yeah we lost too, so can't say much except that I know that you can't spike the ball in less than a second. Why didn't the QB just drop kick the ball through the uprights...a play out of Flutie's book. Anyway, turkey day is closing in. Got to smoke a rather large bird for the fam this year. JaxMan has been studying all of the sales papers that have toys in them. He wants a jackhammer for Christmas.....We'll have to ask the big guy up north for one.
